Answer the following questions:

Ques 1. Differentiate between Intranet and Extranet.
Ans. Intranet refers to a computer network restricted to an organization whereas Extranet refers to a computer network that allows controlled access to an information source available on internet.

Ques 2. What are the components required to establish Wireless Networking?
Ans. The components which are required to establish wireless networking are Wireless Network Cards and Access Points/Routers.

Ques 3. Describe various types of Networks.
Ans. The various types of networks are:
a. PERSONAL AREA NETWORK [PAN]: PAN is a computer network that is mainly created for an individual person. It is used for communication among devices, such as laptop, mobile phones, or smartphones.

b. LOCAL AREA NETWORK [LAN]: In LAN, two or more computers and peripheral devices are connected within a small area, such as room, office building or a campus.

c. METROPOLITAN AREA NETWORK [MAN]: MAN is a larger network than LAN. It is spread across a city. Since it covers a city, it is called metropolitan. Some examples are cable television, branches of a local bank in a city etc.

d. WIDE AREA NETWORK [WAN]: This kind of network connects two or more computers located at far away places. They are linked by communication facilities, like telecommunication or satellite signals. The most common example is telecom system.

Ques 4. Write steps to Access a file from a shared drive?
Ans. a. Double click on the network icon on the desktop.
b. A list of shared drives are displayed in the view pane.
c. Select the required shared drive to see its contents in the view pane.
d. Find the required file in the drive.
e. If you want to open the file, double -click on it.

Ques 5. Explain two levels of network security.
Ans. The two levels of network security are:
1. LOGIN SECURITY: In it, we are given a unique login name and password.
2. RIGHTS SECURITY: In it, based upon our user name, we are given rights, like Read-only access or Read-write access or No access at all.
